Dr. Kumfer's Kitchen: Energy Bites


If you are like me, you usually start the week off strong with healthy eating and habits but as the week picks up speed you get caught off guard and end up eating whatever is on hand and convenient. Recently I have been trying to plan ahead by having healthy on the go snacks ready ahead of time. These Energy Bites are the perfect blend of quick and easy as well as delicious and healthy. If you follow the Zone Diet, these bites are great as they are almost the perfect 40/30/30 ratio you need. They make a great snack when you are craving something sweet too!

What You Need

  1. Food

  2. 1 Ripe Banana

  3. 1 Cup of Oats

  4. 2 Scoops Whey Protein

  5. 1 Cup Sunflower Seeds

  6. Mixing Bowl

  7. Large Spoon

  8. Cup of water

What You Do

  1. Mash the banana in a large bowl

  2. Add in protein powder and mix thoroughly. It will look like too much powder but it will mix in just fine into a nice batter consistency.

  3. Add Sunflower seeds and oats and mix until all are coated.

  4. Refrigerate for 20-30 minutes.

  5. Use a small spoon to scoop out mixture in portions (approximately 1-1.5 inch in diameter).

  6. Use the cup of water to keep your fingers wet as it will make rolling the mix into balls much easier.

  7. This should make 16 or so.
